They deserve their own topic. More accurately they deserve to be on tour with the Toadies. Most importantly they need a new home. Since there is no oz lounge which was nice enough to have a section of their forum dedicated to Baboon and the new forum doesn't, and Baboonland.com closed for good how about the powers that be give the 'boon their own section. Of course I'm under the assumption both bands are still real close.

Love Baboon, my favorite band. They played a show a few months back where someone close to the band said don't be surprised if it's their last show. They ended up playing another show two weeks later in Dallas. Both great shows. I talked to Hughes after and he said something like there always seems to be one last one. Not good news as far as I'm concerned, their last two albums are deserted island albums for me. Hope they still plan to play a few shows here and there in Dallas. If they do go out it should be with a BANG and not a show where Red Monroe was the headliner.

This weekend also saw the reported ends of two local bands.

The great Baboon, after performing a Club Dada set during the closing party for Quick's and Kettle Art's Jason Janik photography show, is rumored to be taking another indefinite break. Fans of the band will still have a chance to see its players perform around town, though, as a new band called The Boom-Boom Box, featuring various members of Baboon and the similarly on-hiatus Pleasant Grove, is slated to perform its first-ever gig at Lola's in Fort Worth on Saturday, October 18.

Baboon is planning one final show in Ft Worth some time. The details havent been squared away yet but I'm hoping it will be like their cd release show at the Ridglea. That was one of my fav Baboon shows ever.

I wish I could remeber all the members that are in Boom Boom Box.. but I can't but they are all Dallas band vets.
Mike and Andy are the 2 Baboon boys in it. Andy told me it's going to sound a lot like Baboon simply because he is singing and Mike is writing all the songs..

someone go to their show on Oct 18 at Lola's and tell me all about it.

this is from thier myspace:

...this OCTOBER.

5 songs on the EP:

Henry the Skunk

Out of Focus

The Walls (What the Birds Know)

Shivers

No Dance

We'll post a few of the songs soon.

First Show: October 18th @ Lola's in Fort Worth.

Please help spread the word.

Bump. Keep us updated on anything you hear.

I wish they recorded some of their recent shows for a new live cd, that would be great. Or at least a bootleg with the newer songs.
