Dig a hole lyrics. I think I got it.

In a shady place I dig a hole
to sew the seeds of this brave soul
I strained my back while mother earth
laments the pain of giving birth
like pervert words I'm strung together
to make some pervert god feel better
My hopes and my sins
cannot erase this

Shock, shock, shock me (etc)

If I get home I'll kiss the ground
and curse those that held me down
If I get home I'll tend the field
caress the earth beneath my heels

Shock, shock, shock me (etc)

In a shady place I dig a hole
to sew the seeds of this brave soul
beneath the tree it's old as sin
I return to work again
I turned the stone from earth's embrace
with the sweat and tears upon my face
my hopes and my sins
are the heaviest

forgot to mention. i would probably have put trust game, suck magic and city of hate as my least favorite toadies songs about a week ago. now? i realize the error of my ways. i love the re-recordings. suck magic is mostly the same, but it really sounds beefed up on the new recordings. city of hate is a million, trillion times better and is probably one of my favorite listens on the CD. trust game is a lot like suck magic in that it sounds so much better on the re-recording. the guitar parts at the end of the song when todd screams "I got wasted!" are incredible.

i hope they come to boston soon. i remember going to see them in providence in july 2001 and screaming "DEAD BOY BOOGIE!" requests. now i actually have a chance to hear the song live.

I'll echo Rob's thoughts. I have always loved Suck Magic, but City of Hate and Trust Game were at the bottom of my list. Now? I love them! Such a great album!

I agree. These re-recordings are nails. The outro alone on City of Hate improves immensely on the previous version. I'll still listen to the old demos and live recordings of these songs, but am extremely happy to have complete mixed and mastered versions of these. My parents will be attending their first Toadies show in a few months and I'm excited that they'll get to hear many of the songs I remember seeing live about 15 years ago. I still can't believe it's been that long. Now I'm just hoping Todd finds the movie soundtrack he's looking for with SYTH.

I still don't like city of hate and I've never been a big fan of atf. But, trust game is massively enoyable and when suck magic kicks in at the end it is just brutal. That outro from suck into atf is also great.

City of Hate was my least favorite Toadies song ever until I heard the new one. What they did with the bass and guitars in that song made the song 100 times better and I love the Feeler 2010 version. And yes the outro rules. Trust Game is awesome its got a bit of an "I Burn" vibe. Does anyone else feel that way? May just be me. Not that thats bad or anything but with the acoustic and Todds vocal approach it reminds me of the verse in I Burn. It also gets loud and heavy at the end like I burn too.

Just to touch on waterfall and joey lets go seeming to sound so similar to the originals and Clark not really wanting to talk about it.

There is no mention of lisa playing bass on any of the recordings, so I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. But, yah know.

Lee - that's definitely one point. I think the other, more legally troubling/potentially expensive aspect would be that the band originally recorded those two songs on Interscope's dime. At least that's what I'd have to assume. They were recorded (presumably) during the HB/SA sessions. Joey Let's Go has been released already on a compilation, too.

Technically, if they had the multitracks of those two songs, Todd could have gone back and re-recorded the bass parts, too. But even then, I would have to guess Interscope would own the rights to those specific recordings.

Definitely. That's kind of where I'm going. Keep lisa's name off, because that would obviously be a dead give away.

But, it really wouldn't be hard for them to prove (the label) that those are the original recordings, if they in fact are.

Lisa didn't record the bass on the original HB/SA versions either.. or any of the tracks on HB/SA from what I understand.. I'm not even sure if she played on Rubberneck.
