Any other rumors in the mill Paul??

[I always love hearing the stories behind the songs.]

i've been lucky enough to hear feeler ahead of receiving my actual disc. and perhaps my ears are playing tricks on me, but both "waterfall" and "joey let's go" sound exactly like the HB/SA outtakes versions. did the band re-record the other 7 tracks and take these songs from the HB/SA session?

I thought the same thinking when I heard the samples on Amazon. But, they were just samples so it wasn't really enough to judge.

Wish I was back home to hear Todd mess up some lyrics. Gah, Houston was just down the road too. Paul, do you only manage or are you also in the band?

New chorus: "now you've gone too far, you suck away the magic. And I see what you are, (can't understand it) tragic" YOU GOT WHAT I WANT. YOU SUCK MAGIC. AWE-SOME version.

Paul, the best I can hear it he says "And I see what you are, it's hollow, frail, and tragic."

Chad, I only manage but I do go out and sing backing vocals on a couple of songs when we need gang vocals.

So at the Tyler show I was talking to Clark about Feeler and asking him all the questions that you all want to know..

Why only 9 songs: He said that this originally was only going to be an EP release and that they actually stretched it out to album.
What happened to Clarksville, Your Day, etc: We didn't really get into each song but I asked specifically about Clarksville (since that was my #1 omit) and he said that it was on the very bottom of the list of songs to bring back.

Waterfall / Joey sounding like the HB/SA b-side: He said he can not comment on that so it's probably best we all take the hint & leave that one alone.

Is City of Hate the single: He said that there are no plans to push any songs to radio and that the just wanted to get this out there and then move on to the album. I asked why they chose City of Hate to reveal as the 1st song and he said that it seemed like a good one to pick. Seemed like they didn't put much thought in it since they weren't planning on having a single. Which is a shame in my opinion because I have been fighting since the original Feeler to get Waterfall as a single. boo.

Mark and Clark both seemed genuinely excited that it had finally come out. There were a couple of times when I was talking with the band about the album and they seemed pretty surprised that I knew as much as I did about it.
I really wish I could have sat down and talked or even semi-interview them about this since the original Feeler era really took up a huge part of my life.. the majority of the Toadies shows I went to were during that era (about 70) and they were playing & re-working new songs almost every time I saw them, so I would have loved to talk to them more about it.. but we all had a very busy weekend.. Hopefully I'll get another chance to talk to them some more in the near future.
I didn't even get the opportunity to ask (or really think to ask) about the next album and how far along they are in the process because I was so excited to talk about Feeler when I had the chance, so someone else is gonna have to scoop me on that one.

The Toadies were and are the reason that I manage Quiet Company and I base the way I manage that band around the ways that I would want to be treated as a fan.. and many of those ideas come from social interaction with the fans and encouraging interaction between the fans that I experienced or wanted from the Toadies. I met very large number of my friends through the Toadies forum during the Feeler era (the old one that many of you were apart of) that I still talk to on a regular basis today, so this album means something a little different to me.
I feel extremely privileged that I was apart this album's release in such a special way by having my band open for these shows since I have based so much around how I manage my band from my interactions I had with the Toadies & their fans from that original Feeler era. It's really hard to describe how I feel about it.. kinda like a high school reunion meets dream come true scenario.

wow.. long post. sorry. Gonna go cry now and hug my Rez doll.

Hey Paul, thank you for the further insight on the album.

Its nice to see what the band means to other individuals, and the influence they've had on peoples lives and choices.. I'm glad they have such a fanbase like us.

I definitely agree that the Feeler era was a big part of my life. Because of this band, I met a lot of great people and I got to do a lot of traveling. Listening to those songs usually bring back a flood of memories of driving to Austin or Dallas to catch a show for a weekend. For the casual fan, they only know a couple songs, but for some of us, we know songs like Dig a Hole, Kill Yourself, Choking and Waterfall, etc. By the way, Paul is right about Waterfall. I think that would have been a great song for the radio, back in the day and now.
Well, I see that I can buy the MP3s on Amazon, so I'll do that now and put my headphones on.

Since we all seem to be reaching that reflection period and stuff, allow me to get a little gooey lol. Having The Toadies Feeler album in my hands(the legit copy) feels amazing and accomplished. I'm not as experienced of a Toadies fan as most of you and with that said much respect. I have been a fan for 3 years or so and have been pretty diehard. I've gotten shirts, all albums, and any rare song I can get my hands on, go to the website every day etc. One of the things i've had my eyes and ears on since right about after No Deliverance came out was Feeler. I had researched Feeler only imagining how awesome those songs must be. I got MOST of my friends into The Toadies so Feeler was always a big topic to cover. Anyway all of the talking, wondering, hoping, begging payed off because here it is in my hands. Fans can make a difference. I'm sure Vaden, Clark, and Mark would have been open to put this stuff out regardless but I just know that the fans made it happen. I just know it. I love alot of bands. But most of the bands we may know and love tend to be larger than life and also tends to be EVERYBODYS band(rolling stones, aerosmith etc.). With the toadies its us and them. They are reachable. To be able to love a band so much and also feel like you can reach out is special. A feeling like none other. Thanks toadies!

Still waitin fir my copy of Feeler to com in.I got impatient and bought it off iTunes as well. Soooooo great. Does anyone else get chills when Suck Magic ends and imediately goes into ATF? I do. I LOVE the new Dead Boy(Boogie) and Pink. I do wish they handt changed the lyrics in Trust Gam but its still a damn good song. I can't wait till August 7th. The Toadies are gonna rock my face off.

Does anyone by chance have the lyrics to Dig A hole?
