Postby BadParanoia on Tue Jul 13, 2010 1:40 am

I have tickets to the August 7th show and its the first time I'm going to see a band live and i just wanted to know what to do exactly. How early should i show up? How's the traffic before and after? What should i expect from my first Toadies Show? Ect.

Thanks

Edit: I just want to be prepared.

If it's truly your first live show I would suggest taking some ear plugs. The music is going to be real good but it's also going to be real LOUD. Get there early and have a good time.

hey there-

Toadies live is an absolute blast. great live show and band.
I do second Motas (long time no see around here), on the earplugs. I always wear them at shows (I've done enough damage to mine from listening to earphones as a kid). Toadies are a great night of kick ass loud rock and roll.

They do come out and sign stuff by the merch table, most of the time- so you may want to take a cd, poster, or get one at the show if they sign stuff. 95% of the time they do.

Traffic is always a bitch getting out of a show, but hopefully it won't be that bad.
Toadies are real good about mixing up set so songs from each album get some love.
Hope this helps, anymore questions just ask. :D

Hi Mr. Shadow,
It has been a long time!
I emailed VTL the other day to compliment him on "City of Hate" and he said he was really stoked about Feeler.
I realized it had been a long time since I'd visited the forum so I came by to check it out.

I have a couple more suggestions for you..

Just past Poor David's Pub there is a pay parking lot that is small. If you get there early enough to park there you will get out of the venue quickly afterwards. I don't think it gets much business after a concert because it is directly opposite the Dallas Police Department.

I personally am going to take a cab back to the MidCities. I don't like to have to worry about driving after.

Once you get inside the venue, you should head to the right. The left side of the stage at the Palladium is usually really packed, but the right side seems be a little less crowded and there is a bar close at hand. Only bad part is that puts you on the other side of the building from the head.

You need to brush up on your Toadies lyrics. These concerts are a BIG sing along and if you want to participate in the fun, you should remember the words to at least PK and Tyler.

I went to about a dozen different concerts last year and I would have to say that The Toadies was the best by far. You should have a blast!

BTW.. Here is a link to the google map. The parking lot is beside/behind the building labeled Reid Cooper Associates.

Thanks Sinpiron. My biggest worry was the traffic getting out of the place. Me and my girlfriend decided to get there super early and find a place to park and just walk there and back. But i may take advantage of the place you just mentioned. And trust me, th Toadies have been on repeat on my iPod since sometime in 2008 when No Deliverance came out. Since then they've become pretty much my favorite band, surpassing Modest Mouse, so i know every lyric.

There is a restaurant called the Studio Grill in the same building as The Palladium. It's pretty good.

I wouldn't recommend walking too far around there. The neighborhood is sort of rough once you get out of the immediate Poor David's/Palladium/Gilley's area.

The walk to/from that parking lot to the Palladium will be very safe. When you are coming in it will be daylight and when you are leaving it will be flooded with people from the concert.
